Introduction:

I have not abandoned the hope of organizing a legacy package of family photos and videos. Such a project will involve much photoshopping and video-editing–– work which grows more daunting as time dwindles…  

In the meantime, I have several more themes to explore.’ Perhaps the editing of raw journal excerpts is rather like ‘photoshopping’. In such manner, I may be preparing for the video legacy project that awaits, time permitting.

For this latest posting, I have pulled out of my journals a series of vignettes which are akin to family ‘snapshots’. Although sometimes a little blurry and slightly off center, these short pieces are attempts to freeze certain instants of family history… 

I cannot predict how my grown children would react to these peeks into tender moments of their infancy and growth. Although historical accuracy is always aimed for–– I apologize for any perceived mismatches of detail in shared memory… 

In any case, there is no need for worry about misrepresentation. Some vignettes do involve vulnerable moments (not the least my own) but in all these pieces, love and respect abides… 

The family snapshot vignettes are drawn from over a period of twenty-two years (1989-2011) chronicling moments from the fledgling stage to that of independent flight… The final piece, ‘Sleeping Beauties Awakened’ (2011), is based on photos taken twenty years previous to that.

As with all these postings, I use initials or pseudonyms to protect identities. Given the relationship of the principals–– the disguise here is unavoidably thin…
