Introduction:
A couple of years ago, I posted ‘A few Snapshots’. They were a selection of family vignettes hoped to be of interest to anonymous readers. Their primary intended audience, though, was my grown children. As I stated in the introduction to that posting: ‘Although historical accuracy is always aimed for–– I apologize for any perceived mismatches of detail in shared memory…’ I do not know whether any of three kids have yet read those pieces. Of course, silence is preferred to mortification…
In these ‘collages‘, I again draw upon sketches of my children in their early years. In contrast to the presentation of the ‘Snapshots’ , the vignettes in this posting are framed in narratives of the present.
The primary intended audience here is my grandchildren. They include my three, yet to grow up–– and potential others––yet to be born. For the latter, I will be a fossil–– if dimly remembered at all…
The hope is that a couple of decades from now, one of them might discover these ‘collages’ and be touched by some insight into a parent, an aunt or an uncle… Perhaps even a doddering grandfather might be seen to have existed as more than a two-dimensional caricature …
As always, names are partly disguised or alphabetized. Most photos–– even the flowers–– are my originals.
